Moving on from Pokhara, our next destination was to be Chitwan National Park. The tourist bus was the only real transport available for this journey. We booked the tickets through a local agency in Pokhara, called Mountain Overland, located in Barahi Path. Tickets cost of 800 Rupees each for the 5 and a half hour journey.
It was an early start to the day to get the bus. Meeting outside the Tri Star hotel, Lakeside at 0645 hrs. Arriving at 0710 hrs and departed 5 minutes later. The delay allowed us to see the training run of the Nepalese police recruits, who came down the main road right past our pick up point.
The journey was long, we passed through some nice mountainous scenery along the way. Road conditions were not the best in places, but overall it was a pleasant journey.
On arrival at Sauraha bus station, Chitwan, someone from our accommodation, The jungle Wildlife Camp, was there to collect us. This was a bit of a surprise, as we hadn’t arranged or even discussed a pick up. The 5 min transfer was greatly appreciated though.
