Bran Castle, or Dracula’s Castle, is a simple day trip from the city of Brasov. From our accommodation Downtown Studio & Rooftop Terrace, we walked 5 min to the Piata Unirii bus stop. We took bus number 50 in the direction of the Local Bus Terminal (Livada Postei). A journey of about 11 minutes, getting off at the 4th stop Castanilor. After a few minutes wait, we boarded bus number 16, in the direction of Stad. Municipal. A journey of 11 minutes, getting off at the 5th stop Stadionul Tineretului. A few minute’s walk from this stop, brings you to Brasov bus terminal number 2, from where the bus to Bran departs.
The purchase of tickets is from the ticket booth, or at one of the ticket machines. Validation of the ticket is required when boarding the bus. A single ticket is valid for 50 minutes on any bus line in the city and costs 2.50 Lei per person, for each bus journey.
The bus for Bran leaves from bus terminal number 2 every half hour.
The ticket price is 8 Lei per person each way, payable on the bus. The Journey time is approximately 45 minutes. The bus was full when we went to Bran, so ensure arrival at the bus station isn’t too close to the departure time, as there is the risk the bus will already be full.
On arrival in Bran, the bus stopped on the main road, a short walk from the Castle entrance. The return bus was even busier. A rather large crowd of passengers had congregated at the bus stop, there being a lot of pushing and shoving to get on when the bus arrived.
