Having had a few days relaxing in Kratie, it was time to continue our journey north. The plan, make our way to the Laos border and then onto Don Det. With it being mid March, the COVID-19 pandemic was tightening its grip on the world.
Transportation links in Cambodia were starting to be limited for westerners, owing to the locals’ health concerns. Some quick thinking on our behalf was required. To preserve our own safety and well being, we chose to make our way back to Phnom Penh and re-evaluate our position.
Our accommodation, the Sorya Guesthouse, managed to locate and book a minivan back to Phnom Penh that was willing to take westerners. Booked with Phnom Penh Sorya. the driver picked us up at the guest house at 0900 hrs. Pretty good roads for Cambodia, bumpy at times, but mainly smooth.
We stopped on a couple of occasions for toilet/food breaks. Arrival in Phnom Penh was at the Phnom Penh Sorya stop. Using Pass app, we booked a tuk tuk to our hotel, the TeaHouse, which was booked through Booking.com. A 10 minute journey.
