Moving on from Bagan to Inle Lake, was another long bus journey. As we have always tried to travel during the day, so we got the 0900 hrs bus from Bagan with a company called JJ Express. Tickets were booked with a local agency in Bagan, costing 22000 Kyat per person. This included pick up from our accommodation at the Bagan Beauty Land Hotel, which certainly makes life a little easier.
A transfer bus arrived at our hotel and transferred us to the bus station outside of the city. The bus station was quite busy and we were required to take our passports and confirmation slip to the office. This done, we put our luggage under the bus and boarded.
A very comfortable bus with reclining seats in a 2+1 formation. Water, a blanket, and a snack box were provided. During the journey, there were plenty of toilet breaks, which had clean toilets, with toilet paper.
The road conditions were good. Passing over the Shan Hills was twisty and turny, but there were some spectacular views. We were told that it was an 8-hour journey but we arrived at the JJ Express office in Nyaung Shwe for Inle Lake at 1600 hrs, the journey only taking 7 hours. From the bus drop off it was a 10 minute walk to our accommodation at the Thousand Island Hotel, booked through Booking.com.
