Where is Uzungol?
The village of Uzungol is situated on the lake of the same name. Nestled in a valley in the Parhar mountains, south of Trabzon.
The surrounding area is a natural environment consisting of high mountain forests. This together with the lake, has made the area a popular tourist destination.
Getting there
Our journey from Soumela to Uzungol was by bus and hire cars.
Our accommodation
During our time in Uzungol, we chose to stay at the Grand Uzungöl Otel. We hadn’t pre-booked the accommodation, instead, we were just a walk-in booking.
Places of interest
Uzungol village and Lake
Uzungol lake looks stunning from the lakeside. But to get the full view, go up the mountain to the Kar Hotel, from where the view is spectacular.
Venture out at night to see the floodlights on the Uzungol Cami Mosque at the end of the lake. The vibrant colours of the illuminations change it completely from seeing it during the day.
Other than the lake and the spectacular views Uzungol doesn’t really have much else to offer unless you are a hotel fanatic……..
