Uzbekistan is a Central Asian country and former Soviet republic. Known for its mosques, mausoleums, and other sites linked to the Silk Road. The ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean. Bordered by five landlocked countries, Kazakhstan to the north, Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Tajikistan to the southeast, Afghanistan to the south, and Turkmenistan to the southwest.

We travelled through Uzbekistan for 9 days, covering a total of 1039 miles. Our main form of transport was by train. Roads are in terrible condition throughout the country. Many being only potholed dirt tracks.
